Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has been out for about 1 year now, it has seen three updates the first one adding some nice new features as well as new camera support. The other two more recent updates have fixed some bugs but have introduced few new features and of course these updates have added new camera support.

During this time we have seen several books released for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom as well. The most recent one from Rocky Nook entitled Managing Your Photographic Workflow with Photoshop Lightroom is like many of the other books it covers the basics of importing your images in to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, how to work with the various filtering and flagging options. How to look at and use the metadata in the images, had to add important information to your images metadata like copyright information, the name of the photographer, contact information and the like.

It also covers the develop module and its tools as well as the slideshow module, web gallery module and the print module. However, two things this book does cover that I thought was very interesting is information on how digital cameras work, how their sensors work and what a RAW file is. It is one thing to shoot RAW files with your camera it is another to understand how it all works and why. I found this section to be very interesting and informative as well as useful.

The other section I thought was interesting and useful was chapter 9 The More Useful Lightroom features. In this section information is given on views, searching and selections, Lightroom Catalogs and other such useful subjects including one that I am just now getting in to myself… Geotagging.

This is a full color book that is easy to read and easy to understand. It is laid out in a clean and attractive format. There are lots of screen shots and sample images as well. The authors know what they are talking about and present it in a useful and easy to use way. This is another fine book to add to your Adobe Photoshop Lightroom bookshelf.
