PC-Review Online first went online in March of 1992 and was at that time a standalone application that we uploaded to BBS (bulletin board systems) around the U.S. and Canada, this was back in the days when we used a phone line and a 300 baud modem to connect to these BBS Systems. This was before the wide spread use of the internet by the public.

As soon as the internet went it to wider use for the general public we converted PC-Review Online to a web site and have been on the web since 1994. In 2000 we registered our domain name and have been at www.pcreviewonline.com ever since.

We have a simple mission and one we work hard to fulfill. Our mission is to provide real world product reviews for our readers. We do not believe in doing in lab benchmark testing, few people we know use products in a lab under perfect conditions. Most people use products in the real world in their everyday lives and this is how we review products. It takes us a little more time to get a review complete but we feel our review is of greater value because we have used the product in the real world in our day to day lives and we report on our experience in doing this.

We are firm believers that all consumers should do their research before purchasing any product and that no consumer should rely on any single review or source of information (including ours) in deciding which product to buy and which product is best for them. Consumers are encouraged to read as many reviews from as many sources as possible, look at the product specifications and features and then decide for themselves if it will meet their needs.

Up until July 2009 parts of PC-Review Online were owned by several people. In June some of these individuals tried to sell off their parts to another party. Unfortunately for them and fortunately for me I (Robert Barnett) owned enough parts of PC-Review Online to stop the sale to the other parties and force the sale of those parts to me. As of July 15th 2009 PC-Review Online is the sole property of Robert Barnett. I have been the editor and review coordinator of PC-Review Online since it started in March of 1992.

Because of this transition of ownership the site has suffered a bit during the transition period. But with the re-launch of the site in December 2009 it is back up to snuff and doing better than ever. We would like to thank everyone for sticking with us during this transitional period. We look forwards to working with everyone.
