There are many books on digital photography, digital cameras, digital image editing and the like. However, there are very few that are digital SLR specific. The Digital SLR Guide is one of these books. It only deals with digital photography from the digital SLR point of view. This is not a gigantic book, but it is thorough, easy to read, in full color and loaded with useful information for any new or semi-new digital SLR camera owner. It doesn’t matter what brand, model, or lenses you have this book is generic to all digital SLR cameras.

It starts off with the basics, like sensors, price, camera features, how to decipher the data (feature) sheets and then moves in to mastering the controls of a digital SLR camera, selecting and using lenses. It then moves in to digital photography techniques like selecting metering modes, choosing the proper exposure, etc. Next comes flash photography, filters and special effects, working with RAW files, image editing basics and more.

As I said this is a very complete and thorough book that applies to all digital SLR cameras not matter the make or model. There are lots of full color example shots which makes understanding the more complex subjects easier and better illustrates what the author is talking about, it is easy to read and in plain English, no specialized degrees in foreign languages required.

If you are thinking about buying your first digital SLR camera, have just bought your first digital SLR camera or have had one for awhile but would like to get more out of it this is a good book to start with.
